Oral studying involves talking out loud instead of just writing. It helps you focus on understanding the material rather than just memorizing it. Use the following steps to help you with this strategy:
- Speak your answers aloud- Read your notes and textbooks aloud, then try to explain concepts in your own words to identify any gaps in your understanding.
- Create a Mock Scenario: Practice explaining your decisions and reasoning aloud, similar to a mock job interview or presentation.
- Record yourself- Record your practice sessions to check for clarity, and identify areas for improvement in your understanding.
- Discuss with Peers: Engage in conversations and discussions about the subject matter to gain different perspectives and deeper insights
- Use the “PEEP” format- For challenging topics, practice the Point, Explanation, Example, and Point structure to organize your thoughts and ensure you cover key aspects of your answer.
- Teach the Material: Explain a concept as if you were teaching it to another person, making sure to simplify it.
